Blood Vein Tubes

A step-by-step guide to make Blood Vein Tubes

These Blood tubes are good for showing students what is inside a blood vein. The red pebbles represent oxygenated red blood cells and the corn syrup represents plasma.

You will need:

  • desired number of round cracker containers
  • Small round glass Red pebbles (for vases or fish tanks)
  • Corn Syrup
  • Super glue (gel)
If desired:
  • Small round glass Blue pebbles (for vases or fish tanks)
  • one white glass bead or pebble.

Step One:

Place about half a bag of Red pebbles into your round cracker container.

 Step Two:

Fill the container with corn syrup, leaving just a little room at the top for an air bubble to be trapped in the container. This will help the pebbles move around the tube.

 Step Three:

Super glue lid onto cracker container.

  Some extra options:

  •  Add the white pebble in with the red pebbles as a white blood cell.
  • Use blue pebbles, instead of red pebbles, to represent deoxygenated blood.
